Juliana Martina is a multilingual vocalist, composer, bandleader and educator with over ten years of experience working at the intersection of music, language and cultural identity. Born in Curaçao to a Colombian family, her work is deeply rooted in Caribbean and Latin American traditions, and shaped by themes such as decolonization, migration, and multilingual expression.
As a performing artist and educator, she creates and leads interdisciplinary projects that explore the connection between music, language, and socio-political context. Her work includes the visual concert project Heritage/Herencia, the album Laman, and collaborations with renowned visual artist Jean Girigori.
Juliana gives workshops, guest lectures and concert-lectures in Spanish, Dutch, English and Papiamentu, often engaging with topics such as colonial legacies in music and the poetic power of popular and traditional song. She is committed to creating inclusive and reflective spaces where art becomes a vehicle for dialogue, memory, and transformation.
